My contributions to IV includes Testimony before the MI Senate when MI state refused to issue DLs to temporary residents. I am a monthly contributor to IV, and have contributed to most of the recent IV funding drives. I am a Sep 18th rally veteran and recently visited Washington DC a few months back - in person - to lobby for some of the bills that are considered 'Hot News' today.
All this is nothing compared to what IV has given back to me as an organization. I was saved thousands of dollars due to July VB reversal. EAD helped me change jobs and leave MI in this tough economic downturn and auto companies inching toward bankruptcy. I just got my 2 year EAD today , and I thank IV for saving me hundreds of Dollars by getting EAD/AP period extended to 2 years. I don't know any other organization or person who has done so much for me. I am immensely grateful to be part of this movement.
It's my pleasure to start a volunteer group in the 'Volunteer State'. Hope we won't be short of volunteers :). It makes me nostalgic about the times MI chapter started as a group of few individuals and today boasts of 60+ members. Lets get organized here too. That's the only way to make our voices heard.
This is my promise to you - I won't ask you to do anything which I haven't done myself. And I won't force you to do anything, unless you feel that waiting for others to step up will not take you anywhere, and you feel ready to do something to help yourself and your family. Hi,
I just had medical RFE for both me and my wife. We are July 2007 Filers and somehow our medical documents got lost or whatever, We received an RFE from USCIS and replied just in time.
I am primary applicant and I would be loosing job at end of october. I would not be finding a job due to personal reasons and would be on a 3 month severance package till january.
My Question is what are the chances of getting an EVL RFE during those 3 months? I know nobody can predict USCIS, but according to my lawyer, if they wanted EVL, they would have that in the RFE and chances of getting another RFE in another 6 months is very very slim.
This logic makes sense to me too. But anybody got weird experience where they received RFE, Responded to it and then got another completely different RFE in a short duration?

As far as i know medicals are valid for 2 1/2 years.
Answer to your next question is, there could be many possibilities.
1. USCIS might have lost your original 693
2. There could be something which is not clear in the original 693 etc
Don't worry much. Just give them what they asked.

I have 3 more H-1 years so I am considering changing a job in category EB2 so the process can be faster (my PD is Jan 2004 with approved I-140). My question is whether this position below can be considered in EB2 or not. To my knowledge on Eb2, it must be more than 5 years experience with BS or MS. I have a MS, but my work experience in US is total 4 years 4 months (intern 10 months in US during MS + 11 months with OPT after MS + 2yrs6months with H-1B).

- BS Degree plus 3-5 Yrs experience or MS Degree plus 2 Yrs experience.

You might be denied based on the 365 days rule. When was your labor filed?
OP's 140 was approved in Aug 2008 and whereas the extension was filed in Feb 2009. It rules out the denial based on 365 day rule.

Howdy fellow Aliens,
My wife's EAD just got approved. Now I have to get her a SSN so she can start working part time. Firstly I should ask can she get a SSN provided her I-485 application is filed and she has a valid EAD ? Any idea how long it takes to get the dang SSN ? I appreciate your help as always.
EAD is for work, SSN for Tax purposes, etc. Apply for SSN, I dont think you need to wait for the actual SSN number before your wife starts working.

I don't think there is any clause related to NON-RIR or RIR or PERM labor when it comes to 7th year extension according to yates memo. Once your application has been filed 365 days before and if you have a case number assigned you can use that case number to show USCIS that your labor was indeed pending for 365 days. Since you already approved for 7th year extension and looking for 8th year extension you have no problem and with the new employer you can get 8th year extension plus H1 transfer together.

So am still little confused... Should I go this route... The reason is the company who is willing to do my GC is doing also in good faith. But with the economy the way it shapes up... they are not sure, but as a good faith they did agree to start my GC process. Well I will be bearing the lawyer expenses...they would manage the mandatory fees. So they have very little to loose.
What do you guys suggest! I have heard many people who work with company A and GC is done by Company B ... ( Correct me if I am wrong here)
