THE JOKER AND HARLEY QUINN Fun Photos & News

Check out these 2 Fun JOKER & HARLEY QUINN Photos: The 1st one was sent to us by a new friend named Patricio who lives in Chile. He recently bought a "foreign copy" of the famous Joker Graphic Novel, "Batman: The Killing Joke". Well, it's not foreign to him, just us comic book collectors in the USA, ha! The neat thing is that in Chile it's titled, "La Broma Asesina". Oh yeah, now how cool is that?! That's awesome!

The next photo is absolutely incredible. This is a BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM Birthday Cake of HARLEY QUINN created by a company called "Mike's Amazing Cakes". The details are insane & it's complete crazy to think that it can all be eaten! I mean, it's an ART Masterpiece. I couldn't eat it, ha!

International BATMAN Comic Books - Photo Reference

I was recently surprised by a wonderful email from a Bat-Blog Fan named Marc. He lives in Germany & loves to collect "international Batman Comics". He sent us some photos from his comic book collection & they're a total joy to see. Basically, they're a few issues he has where he shows different variations from different countries. We get to see books in many foreign languages: German, English, French, Spanish, etc... The interesting thing is that sometimes they create whole new artwork for the cover. The "BATMAN: GOTHAM NOIR" Graphic Novel is the perfect example of that. I wanna thank Marc for taking the time to shoot these pics, I appreciate that. If any other Bat-Blog Readers have interesting things about their comic book or toy collections that you would like to share then please do. The main focus of the Bat-Blog is the joys of being a Bat-Fan & Collector.

Animation Video: BATMAN & JOKER Lego Figures - THE KILLING JOKE

A friend told me about this extremely interesting video he found the other day & it's really great! It's an excerpt from the BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE comic book graphic novel by Alan Moore & Brian Bolland. It's acted out by voice artist Patrick Girts and animated with Batman & Joker LEGO Toys by filmmaker Forrest Whaley. Enjoy.

Cool JOKER TATTOO ART - Batman The Killing Joke

Here's a very cool JOKER Tattoo Photo sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named Kevin. He has a large tattoo inspired by Brian Bolland's artwork in the BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Graphic Novel. This book ( and comic book artist ) is a total favorite of mine. Also, this is a great choice for a tattoo because this image is so iconic. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Kevin for sending us this cool pic. Plus, if any other readers out there get some ink done then please shoot us a picture, thanks!

A Look Back at BATMAN: DIGITAL JUSTICE by Pepe Moreno

Back in 1990 DC Comics published a one-shot Batman Graphic Novel, written & drawn by Pepe Moreno, called BATMAN: DIGITAL JUSTICE. I remember when it came out & it was a very big deal. I bought it & have totally loved it all these years. The main thing about it was that the artwork was totally created on a computer and, at that time, it was extreme state of the art. I mean, it was groundbreaking! Now, by today's standards, the art may seem kind of cheesy ( no offense to the artist ) but back then it just blew everyone's mind!! Plus, the artwork was really great especially if you consider that it was drawn with the earliest of computer graphic programs. It must have been painstaking to draw between computer crashes, ha! The other cool thing was that the story was really good too. So, all around, it was just a very wonderful Batman book. Over the years it has been translated into many different languages ( the pic up above shows the Spanish version cover ). The sketch of Batman, up above, was the original mock-up drawing for the cover. Obviously the story was set in the far far future. It was actually way after the death of our modern-day Batman. Parts of it were almost sort of like the TRON movie, but not really. It dealt with a deadly "Joker computer virus" that was threatening the future Gotham City. Anyways, it's a book I highly recommend. Another thing, if you have already read this novel & you're a fan of it then you might be happy to know that the artist Pepe Moreno has been posting a lot of personal sketches from this classic book on his art blog. They're really great to see & they're a very interesting piece of bat-history. Here's a link to check it out, just click HERE!

New BATMAN Black and White Statue - THE JOKER By LEE BERMEJO

OK, I have to say that I am pretty impressed with this new JOKER Statue from DC Direct. They announced that the next Batman Black and White statue is based on Bermejo's art from the critically acclaimed hardcover graphic novel JOKER by Brian Azzarello, with art by Lee Bermejo and Mick Gray. This statue measures approximately 7" high x 5.75" wide x 5.75" deep and features a Bat-logo-shaped base. The approx. retail price will be $ 80.00 & it goes on sale March 2nd, 2011.

Jessie's THE JOKER TRIBUTE TATTOO ART Photos

I recently met this very nice guy on Facebook & he shared the fact that he is getting some tattoo ink work done as a tribute to his favorite Batman Villain, The Joker. He was kind enough to send us some photos & I have to say that they're very impressive. Now, I forgot to ask, but I think they are in their early stages & will probably be colored. But even if they're not they are both pretty cool just like they are. Oh yeah, there are 2 of them. One of them is on his right arm, a nice portrait of Joker's face. The other one is sort of large & is under his neck! The "Neck Tattoo" is an interesting concept because when he raises his head you can see a Joker smile. The artwork is inspired by the cover art to the recent JOKER Graphic Novel with original art by Lee Bermejo ( written by Brian Azzarello ). You know the one I'm talking about, but I'm posting a photo of it as a reminder or for people unfamiliar with it. But most people should know it because it's starting to become a very iconic image. As a side note, it's a great read too. Now, back to the tattoo. The artwork so far has been done by Nate Laird at INK DADDYS in Salem, OR. I'm assuming that if it's colored it will be the same guy. This artist's work is very high quality. These JOKER Tattoos are very cool & I wanna thank Jessie for sharing some of his personal photos with us. If any other bat-Blog fans get some ink done then shoot us some pics!

BATMAN 3D Graphic Novel - Vintage Comic Book Ad

About 20 years ago ( ©1990 ) DC Comics came out with a new graphic novel titled BATMAN 3D. It's main writer / artist was John Byrne but many other comic artists made an appearance too. People like: Arthur Adams, Jim Aparo, Mike Mignola, Bret Blevins, Al Williamson, Dave Gibbons, Klaus Janson, Gerry Ordway, George Perez, Alex Toth, Barry Winsor-Smith, & Mike Zeck. It featured a lot of stories & full-page pin-ups that were all done with 3D technology. I remember when it came out & it was pretty cool! Well, here's a vintage full-page comic book advertisement sent in by our friend Christopher ( Thanks Chris ). Readers, please be sure to click on it for a very large picture. The 2 main things I remember about this book was that all the stories were very very good. They even reprinted a 1953 Batman & Robin story titled "The Robot Robbers" that was really neat. The 2nd thing was that the "3D effect" really worked very well & some pages just totally popped-out of the book. At the time it was a whole new experience. If you ever get the chance to pick this up at a comic book store or convention then please do so. But, remember to check to make sure it still has the 3D glasses with it.

NEW NEAL ADAMS' ART From BATMAN: ODYSSEY in Color!

Some brand new comic book art has been leaked from the upcoming BATMAN: ODYSSEY project. Of course it's done by legendary Batman artist and comics pioneer Neal Adams. Now, we have seen one of these pages before ( the train scene ) but not in color...WOW! The next one features Aquaman & a Giant Whale ( Also, if you look closely, you can see MAN-BAT ). They look amazing!! The 1st issue is set to go on sale July 7th, 2010 so look for it then. In the mean time, click on these pics to make them larger & enjoy some beautiful artwork!

Batman's THE KILLING JOKE Joker Parody on SOUTH PARK

The other night, on Comedy Central's SOUTH PARK Cartoon TV Show, they did a total homage to Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's classic Batman Graphic Novel JOKER: THE KILLING JOKE. Yes, the ultimate JOKER book! One important thing that true Batman Fans will love too is the fact that they used the original version of the book & not the 2008 re-issue. Now, I have not seen it yet. In fact, our friend Dan was the guy who told me about it & to torture me he sent these amazing screen shots ( Thanks Dan! ). As you can see, they do a spot-on parody of the book! Be sure to click on them for larger versions. I have been trying to find the episode online & that's turned into a small problem. You see, the creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, are under a lot of trouble right now because this episode depicts an image of the Prophet Muhammad & it has a lot of very serious Muslim groups pretty angry. Like, usually after a South park episode has aired ( & you missed it ) you can visit their website a few days later to see it online. Well, this episode is the one under fire from religious groups & they might not ever post it there. Stay tuned to the Bat-Blog for more details.

BATMAN BEYOND....RETURNS! ( Comic News & Wallpaper Background )

Here's some really great Bat-News! BATMAN BEYOND will be returning this year in June, well, sort of. Unfortunately it won't be an animated TV series cartoon but it will be the next best thing, it's gonna be a comic book! To be exact, a six-part mini-series from writer Adam Beechen and artist Ryan Benjamin. The graphic up above is the cover artwork for the 1st issue as drawn by Dustin Nguyen. I also made it into a BATMAN BEYOND WALLPAPER BACKGROUND so please click on it for a larger version to brighten your desktop! For a little insight, here's a quote from Writer Adam Beechen,
“The dark future of the legendary animated series comes to the DCU in a six-issue miniseries, as Terry McGinniss, Bruce Wayne’s young successor as Batman, faces his deadliest foe yet — a mystery murderer from the Dark Knight’s past! Old faces return, new allies and enemies step into the light, and the partnership between Terry and Bruce - not to mention Terry and Bruce themselves - might not survive!”

Garrey's Awesome BATMAN COMIC BOOK, TOY, & MEMORABILIA Collection!

The Bat-Blog recently received a whole bunch of really great photos from a Bat-Fan named Garrey. This is his room where he displays some of his Batman Collection. He's got a lot of Vintage Comic Books, New Graphic Novels, DVD Movies, Action Figures, Collectible Toys, Movie Posters, etc... I couldn't post ALL the photos he sent so I just condensed them down to a few of the best ones. He really has a lot of neat Batman items! Now, you know I totally love all this kinda stuff ( especially the toys ) but I gotta say that the BAT'S MOTEL sign is really funny! If I remember right, he said he got it at BIG LOTS during the Halloween Season. It's not really a "Batman item" but it does totally fit into the collection. Plus, I like the humor. Thank you Garrey for sharing your personal photos with us, I appreciate that a lot & know that many people will enjoy seeing these pics. It's always cool to see what other people have so if YOU ( Bat-Blog Reader ) have anything to share then please send us your pictures today!

The thing he really enjoys is collecting the Batman Trade Paperback Books ( Graphic Novels ), Hardback Books, & Comic Books. Here are some photos he sent of his collection. Because of space limitations I couldn't publish them all but these do give you a really good idea of what an awesome library he has. On a side-note, I like how he has a Post-It Note attached to the shelf, near the Batman books, that reads, "DO NOT TOUCH!", that's funny! Thanks Justin for sending in these photos & sharing your collection with us. You have some great stuff! As always, I want to invite all Bat-Blog Readers to share your pics of anything Batman-related. It can be a Vintage Toy Collection, a photo of you meeting Adam West, your recent Bat-Birthday Party, whatever!
