I just got a message from our friend Stephane who writes the BATMAN CITY Blog. Her website covers the entire world of collecting Batman Trading Cards & it's a really great reference guide site. Picture Window Books ( a division of Capstone Publishing ) just released a brand-new series of Children Books called DC SUPER-PETS. The Illustrator for these are none other than Art Baltazar. You might recognize his name from the successful TINY TITANS comic books. The basic concept for this new series is that they tell stories about the adventures of SUPER-PETS who are owned by some of your favorite DC Comics Superheroes: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, & Green Lantern. Their names are Ace the Bat-Hound, Krypto the Super-Dog, Streaky the Super-Cat, Beppo the Super-Monkey, and Jumpa the Super-Kangaroo.
Now, to celebrate the launch of this new series, Picture Window Books is sponsoring a writing contest for students in grades 1-3. Children enter the "My Pet is Super" contest by writing an article for an imaginary newspaper, The Daily Planet, about why their own pet is super! YES Boys & Girls! It's time again for a World Famous Bat-Blog Contest where this time the prize we're giving away is an incredible BATMAN BUST Statue from the HEROES OF THE DC UNIVERSE Collection ( it's the 2nd piece to the series )! Oh man, it's so beautiful! Seriously, when I opened the box I was kind of shocked by how nice this thing actually is ( photos don't do it justice ). The details are really insane. You can see "wrinkles" in Batman's Bat-Suit Costume that look very realistic. The base of the statue is meant to look like Gotham City's Dark Knight is perched on a rooftop, near a Gargoyle, & that part looks like it is actually stone & brick material. This hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain bust measures approximately 6" high x 3 1/4" wide x 4 1/2" deep and is packaged in a 4-color box. Overall, the whole thing is very highly detailed. Batman is holding his Bat-a-rang & it looks very real too. The rope is actually a very thick wire & looks kinda neat. Also, the paint job on this baby is really great... the colors are extremely accurate! I could go on & on about how wonderful it is but if you win you'll see. Now, how to enter.
