The Mezco Toy Company has announced a brand-new BATMAN MEGA SCALE MEZ-ITZ FIGURE that will be 18 Inches Tall! It's way bigger than previous versions ( 2" and 6" ) and will come in 2 color variations: Limited Edition Black and Gray and Ultra Rare Variant Limited Edition Blue and Grey ( I like the blue one the best ). He features a real cloth cape and 5 points of articulation. Now, before you fall in love, the retail price will be around $200.00, OUCH! This new toy will premiere at the world famous San Diego Comic Con ( 2011 SDCC ) but will also be available at the Official MEZCO Website, click HERE!
Be sure to keep an eye out later this year for Mattel's new DC Universe Classic Action Figure "MAD LOVE" 2-Pack Set featuring the Joker & Harley Quinn. But remember that you won't find these everywhere because they are a Toys-R-Us Exclusive. Something sort of interesting: The position of the characters inside the packaging is based on Alex Ross' iconic Painting "Tango With Evil" ( see pic below ). The figures look great but I love some of the accessories - Harley's Giant-Gun and Hammer, Joker Playing Cards, Joker's Cane & Mallet, plus... a Joker Fish!
Here's a wonderful photo sent in to us by our friend Yuji. He had a BATMAN Birthday Cake with a graphic of his favorite Vintage Toy, a 1970's Batman MEGO Doll... I mean, Action Figure! This cake looks goooood & it's making me hungry, ha! Plus, I totally love Mego Toys so this is great stuff! ( Thanks Yuji for sharing your pic ).
Check out these cool pics! These photos were sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named John who loves to create Custom-Made Action Figures of his favorite Batman characters. Just check out the one he made of The Riddler, AWESOME! Then, if you study the other pics, you'll also see Batman, Bane, Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash, The Joker, & Mr. Freeze! I think they are all very well done, good job John & thanks for sharing the pictures. If any other Bat-Blog Readers out there have any fun things to share about our favorite Dark Knight then please do so.
The Javits Center in New York City was bustling this week with some of the coolest and most unusual collectible action figures and statues at the 2011 TOY FAIR. Among them, DC Direct displayed some their newest products. Shown here are the DCU Online MMO figures of THE JOKER and HARLEY QUINN ( These look pretty awesome! ). Plus, speaking of Harley, we also get to see the Harley Quinn Figure from the new BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY Action Figure Series ( Video Game Version ).
On Wednesday, every week, the Bat-Blog Website posts 2 Free BATMAN Backgrounds. We call it "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!" We always try to go with some theme or idea & BATGIRL seemed like a good subject. So, here we go! The 1st image is a close-up shot of a Batgirl Action Figure. It's from when she was in the Animated Series TV Cartoon. I know the image is kinda strange, but please try it as a desktop background, it's actually sort of fun! Now, speaking of TV. The next wallpaper is a publicity photo of Batgirl from the 1960's BATMAN TV Show. Of course this is the Actress Yvonne Craig & she looks totally wonderful in her bat-suit costume, Hubba Hubba! We hope you enjoy these, but if you don't, then we have hundreds more available in our posts from the past. You can click the "More Wallpapers" Link Button down below:
Here's a cool vintage TV commercial that aired 11 years ago, in the year 2000. It's for the BATMAN BEYOND BATLINK ACTION FIGURES. It shows the Codebuster Batman Action Figure & Netrunner Batmobile made by Hasbro Toys. I've included a photo of the toys, check out the Batmobile, it's crazy!
Every week, here at the Bat-Blog, we post a few Free Batman Desktop Backgrounds for you to enjoy. We call it "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday", ha ha! Shown here are 2 very fun graphics. The 1st one is a very recent image of Batman and Robin ( Damian ) from the Modern-Day Comic Books. The next one is more "Vintage", it's a photo of an older Batman Action Figure standing next to a Toy Batmobile Car. I love these old toys and also thought it would be kind of funny. Now, please remember, you can always dig through our BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for hundreds of other Bat-Wallpapers. That area is located on the left-hand side of this page, near the middle.
DC Direct just announced a brand-new Batman Action Figure to keep an eye out for. It's called "BATMAN JUSTICE" & is based on the critically acclaimed and best-selling 12-issue comics series by Alex Ross. As with the SUPERMAN ( Kingdom Come ) 1:6 Scale Deluxe Collector figure, the Batman body has been extensively modified to reflect the unique style of Alex Ross. The 13" high figure ( 1:6 Scale ) features 28 points of articulation, is packaged in a deluxe 4-color window box and includes a display stand. It will be a Limited Edition Figure & the retail price will be around $99.99 US.
OK, this is sort of an experiment. This week, for "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday", I thought I would post these 2 brand-new BATMAN Desktop Backgrounds. But instead of the normal 1024 X 768 size I usually do. I'm posting these new ones that are 1440 X 900. Please let me know how these work for you guys. Do you like the new size or do you want to go back to the old format? The 1st one features a pretty sweet graphic of a recent Catwoman Action Figure & the 2nd one is a vintage Black & White Photo of the Dynamic Duo, Batman & Robin, the Boy Wonder! Of course they are the 1966 TV Show version of those characters....POW!
Shown here are a few vintage TV commercials showing an older Kenner action figure toy line called "Legends of Batman". I remember when these came out around 1994 & I was not a very big fan of them. Well, there were a couple of figures that were neat ( that I did buy ) like the Joker & Catwoman. But most of the figures were totally awful, ha! They showed the Caped Crusader in many different eras of history. We got stuff like: Guardian Batman, Cyborg Batman, Future Batman, Dark Rider Batman, Night Quest Batman, Silver Knight Batman, Samurai Batman, Flight Pack Batman, and the Sleek Batmobile. So, I guess I'm going to the trouble to post all of these videos here more for a historical reference than pure nostalgia...enjoy!
The new SUPERMAN / BATMAN: APOCALYPSE animated film by DC Universe / Warner Bros just came out & if you go to BEST BUY then you can get this EXCLUSIVE DC Direct Action Figure. The cool thing is that it is sold separately & you don't have to actually buy the DVD there to get the figure. Now, I was looking for a decent video review of this figure & found 2 of them. They're both pretty good so I decided to show them both because they each give you a slightly different view of the figure & I thought that might help people more. The retail price for this figure is $9.99, which isn't bad. I plan on getting one of these later. It looks really cool! So, what do YOU think about this figure? Please let us know if you like it or not, thanks.
Yesterday I posted a video review of the DC Direct BLACKEST NIGHT - BATMAN Action Figure. It was done by a friend & if you missed it then just scroll down & check it out, it's pretty cool. Anyways, soon after it was on my site I got an email from a Bat-Blog Fan asking me if I could make some Desktop Wallpaper with this character. Well, hey Greg...here you go!!
Here's a really nice video done by a Bat-Blog Fan named Joey. It's an "Action Figure Review" for the new DC Direct BLACKEST NIGHT Black Lantern Batman ( Series 5 ). This toy looks pretty cool & has some great details. Please be sure to check out Joey's video down below & see what you think. Also, it's on sale at TFAW, just use that link button below the video!
OK Kids, here's some really great photos to totally drool over, ha! While at the 2010 Comic Con the Mattel Toy Company gave a presentation of some upcoming toys they will release later this year & early 2011. This post is about their DC UNIVERSE CLASSICS Action Figures & we're mainly covering the Batman-related characters. As you can see they're gonna make some really great figures for this series. Just to be clear, what is shown here is "WAVE16". Wave 14 is shipping now & Wave 15 will come out in early fall. But back to Wave 16, look at what they have here! We got AZRAEL from the 1993 Knightfall storyline, the Villain BANE looking all buff & mean, The RIDDLER ( looking like he's from the Silver-Age, cool! ), & 2 different versions of Dick Grayson as ROBIN, The Boy Wonder! The Robin figures look the same to me except for the heads. One kind of looks like he's from the 1940's, while the other one reminds me of the 1970's Super Friends. Please tell me, which Robin do you like the best? Alright, now the very last photo is some of the mini-figures from the ACTION LEAGUE series. They're gonna have a ton of these of Superman, Green Lantern, etc...but here are 2 favorites, Batman & The Joker! I really like these, they're pretty cool!
OK, Here's some more fresh news from Mattel that was presented at this year's 2010 San Diego Comic Con & I'm sort of reporting on 2 different toy lines here, Hot Wheels & Imaginext Action Figures. The 1st photo shows a few new HOT WHEELS Batmobile cars to keep an eye out for ( But don't start camping out at Toys-R-Us tonight because these won't come out for a while - just stay tuned to the Bat-Blog because you know that when they come out we will be spazzing-out, ha!). It looks like they'll have some interesting new Batmobiles in 2 different series. One is the "Custom Motors" line & the other one is the "Color Shifters". The Custom Motors car is the Tumbler Batmobile from The Dark Knight movie & it looks like you'll be able to customize it like a model kit or something. I don't think I have ever seen this toy line before & it looks pretty interesting. Now the next one is the Color Shifters car & it looks like the Batmobile from the 1989 BATMAN movie, awesome! I've seen these before & they're kinda neat. They have special paint that changes color when you put them in hot water. This one has "flames" on the hood. Now the next major toy line covered here is the IMAGINEXT Action Figures, Vehicles, & Accessories. I know these are made for small children ( which is great ) but I gotta admit that I totally love these! The main 2 things to share here is the Batman figure with his Bat-Boat & Killer Kroc with his Swamp Boat. Plus, if you look at the picture with the Batboat, you'll also see the Riddler with his Riddler Car...awesome!
Oh yeah, at this year's 2010 San Diego Comic Con there was a lot of news about brand-new Batman toys & action figures that will be coming out later this year but my favorite thing is the fact that Mattel, in their DC Universe line, will be coming out with "The Gray Ghost"! He was a character created during the TV run of Batman: The Animated Series & appeared in an episode called "Beware the Gray Ghost". It's one of my all time favorites! It was a really great story but the cool thing was that they got Adam West to do the voice acting for that character. It was really a big deal at the time. You know, to sort of have West come back to the "Batman world". Basically, the Gray Ghost was an old time TV series that a young Bruce Wayne, as a small child, loved to watch with his Father & it inspired him deeply. In fact, after becoming Batman, he used his memory of the floor design to the "Gray Ghost's Lair" to design the total look of the Batcave. In other words, the Gray Ghost was Batman's childhood hero. The story had some interesting angles like showing the life of the "Gray Ghost" actor in modern times & how he was always broke & having a hard time paying the rent. He thought he was a has-been, but all the while he never knew how important he was to so many people who grew up watching his show. It was a very heartwarming side-story, sort of a cautionary tale. Anyways, just check out the photo of the figure, it's AWESOME! Also, for fun I posted this video down below of a Fox TV promo for the "Beware the Gray Ghost" episode.
Hey Kids, it's Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday! We got some really great Batman Backgrounds this week so get ready! The 1st one uses some promo art from the new DC Universe Online game. It's a beautiful pin-up of the super villain Poison Ivy, hubba hubba! The next one is a close-up shot of a Custom Batman Munny Figure that was customized by a friend of the Bat-Blog ( He did a really great job on it ). I thought that both of these images would make fun wallpapers. What do you think? Listen, you guys need to let me know which wallpapers you like the best or maybe which characters you would like to see. Ya know, I'm always trying to make the Bat-Blog the best fan site ever & I do need feedback every now & then, ha! Please remember, if you dig through the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES, located on the left side of this page ( near the middle ), you can find hundreds of other Batman Wallpapers we have done over the years.
Well, it's pretty much been announced that with the success of the 1st wave of figures for BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM ( The Video Game ) DC Direct now plans on coming out with Series 2. That wave will include Batman - Armored, Poison Ivy, Bane, & Zsasz. They will all be approx. 7" tall, multiple points of articulation, & be sure to keep an eye out for them around February 2, 2011.
Whew! I almost forgot that today is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday", ha ha! OK, to make up for being a tiny bit late I thought I would post 3 free wallpapers instead of the regular 2. I recently asked some people at random what kind of backgrounds they would like & the most popular answer was Batman: The Brave and The Bold. So, here are some that feature Batman, Aquaman, & the super-awesome Batmobile car from the show! The photo of the car is actually a photo of the action figure toy vehicle made by Mattel. I don't know, I thought it was a cool pic. I hope you guys enjoy them all!!
