The Mezco Toy Company has announced a brand-new BATMAN MEGA SCALE MEZ-ITZ FIGURE that will be 18 Inches Tall! It's way bigger than previous versions ( 2" and 6" ) and will come in 2 color variations: Limited Edition Black and Gray and Ultra Rare Variant Limited Edition Blue and Grey ( I like the blue one the best ). He features a real cloth cape and 5 points of articulation. Now, before you fall in love, the retail price will be around $200.00, OUCH! This new toy will premiere at the world famous San Diego Comic Con ( 2011 SDCC ) but will also be available at the Official MEZCO Website, click HERE!
Be sure to keep an eye out later this year for Mattel's new DC Universe Classic Action Figure "MAD LOVE" 2-Pack Set featuring the Joker & Harley Quinn. But remember that you won't find these everywhere because they are a Toys-R-Us Exclusive. Something sort of interesting: The position of the characters inside the packaging is based on Alex Ross' iconic Painting "Tango With Evil" ( see pic below ). The figures look great but I love some of the accessories - Harley's Giant-Gun and Hammer, Joker Playing Cards, Joker's Cane & Mallet, plus... a Joker Fish!
I recently received some very nice photos from a fellow Batman Collector named Brad ( Be sure to click on them for larger, more detailed, pics ). He has a really great Batman Statue Collection. Now, there were a ton of photos so I'm just showing a few right now, and later I will post the rest. But I'm putting them in categories, so they make sense, so don't worry. These pics focus mainly on the Batman: Black and White statues. Then, there's a few other busts & random statues... all great stuff! I think it's really neat to see a lot of the B&W figures all together. They always make an interesting display. My next post will focus on his Joker Collection so stay tuned for that. In the mean time, here's some great stuff to drool over, ha! ( Thanks to Brad for sharing, YOU ROCK, Sir! )
The Bat-Blog was one of the very 1st websites to announce that the next Happy Meal Toys at McDonalds were going to be "Batman: The Brave and The Bold". Well, here are the photos of what the toys are going to look like! There are a TON of them to collect! Be sure to click on the pic up above for a larger version. ( Thanks for sending the photo Batmobilly! )
Here's the deal, with each meal you get 3 toys. Yes, you read that right, THREE toys, ha! There will be 8 waves of 3 toys each, making that 24 toys total! It also breaks down as 4 vehicles & 20 figures, whew! Now, we're not quite sure of their size just yet but I'm guessing they'll be way smaller than regular McDonald's Happy Meal Toys. But either way these look extremely cool! Oh yeah, these should be coming out around April 29th, 2011.
Here's a prototype picture from the recent 2011 Funko Toys Catalog showing the 2nd Wave of DC Universe POP! Vinyl Figures. Now the main reasons I'm listing them here is because one of them is Batman-related, Two-Face! But the other Superheroes are cool as well: Hawkman, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, & Shazam! Right now there is no exact release date but I'm guessing sometime around August. Stay tuned to the Bat-Blog & we will let you know ( We'll also have some sharp photos of the actual products as soon as possible ).
The Bat-Blog always tries to be on top of what brand-new pieces of Batman merchandise are out there. I mean, we're pretty serious Bat-Collectors & this site shares a lot of info on New Toys & Products. The 1st photo is something that's available right now. In fact, this photo was sent in by a friend who had just returned from Wal-Mart. It's a Special BATMAN VS JOKER 2-Pack Action Figure Set. It's made by Mattel from a toy line called "Action League". They're done in a squatty-cartoonish style, a lot like the Brave and the Bold figures. But they're not from the cartoon. They're more like characters from the DC Universe ( The Comic Books ). Speaking of "Cartoons", the next pic shows another 2-pack, this one for YOUNG JUSTICE. These figures are not out yet but will be released later. This set has Batman and Robin, as they look in the TV Show ( very cool! ). Now, the last photo is an item that's been out awhile. It's the DC Comics 75th Anniversary BATMAN KUBRICK Figures Set. I've reported on these before but felt they were worth mentioning again because this pic shows how they were packaged. Which, I didn't know about and really like. The custom "windows" for each figure inside is neat. Plus, the box that opens to display them is pretty cool! I also like that they have the official logo next to each character... nice! One last thing, if you're a Bat-Blog Reader who is also a Batman Toy Collector then please let us know what brand-new items you see out there in the retail stores. It doesn't have to be toy-related either, just "anything Batman"... Thanks.
Check out these really great Custom-Made Batman Figures! I got these photos from a new friend who lives in Puebla, Mexico. It looks like he made 3 different versions... cool!
This week's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" is made-up of some Batman Backgrounds sent in by two very cool Bat-Blog Fans! The 1st one features a group of Batman Cos-Players in New Jersey known as "The BatSquad!" In costume, we see Batman, Batgirl, Catwoman and Robin... Now, that's serious fandom! The next pic was a photo shot by our friend Stephen of SMJART.COM. These are some older vintage Batman toys from around 1989. I think they were made to capitalize on the Tim Burton BATMAN movie craze. I remember these, they're great! They were very BIG Vinyl Figures of Batman, Robin, & Joker made by a toy company called Applause. The cool thing was that they went with a "retro comic book" look. ( I have the 2 Crime Fighters but I'm missing the Villain, ha ha! ) Now, when I say "BIG", they were around 13" tall, maybe a little bigger, & came with a display stand to hold them up. So, what do you think about these wallpapers? Love them? Hate them? I think they're kinda fun & I wanna thank the people who submitted them.
A friend sent me this picture the other day of a brand-new BATMAN LEGO T-Shirt & it totally cracks me up!! It features a graphic of the iconic moment when Bane broke Batman's back, but the image is done with Lego Toy Figures, ha ha! As we all know, this was part of the KNIGHTFALL storyline that was popular in the Batman comic books around the Spring & Summer of 1993. Remember, the sound of a back breaking is "KRAKT!!"
Just in time for Christmas is this totally amazing DC SUPER FRIENDS TRIO Play Set! Our good friend "Batmobilly" spotted this treasure while shopping the other day at Target. It looks like Fisher Price has come out with a BATCAVE SUPER MEGA SET & it's totally AWESOME! Click on the picture up above for a larger version, it's beautiful! You get the Batcave, a Batmobile Car, the Joker-Bot, the Batwing Jet, 6 other accessories/mini-vehicles, and a TON of figures!! The characters include: The Joker, Robin, Batman, Superman, Penguin, Riddler, & Mr. Freeze. There are 11 figures in all with a few different variations of Batman, Robin, & the Prince of Crime, The Joker! WOW! This is CRAZY!! I'm gonna go out on a limb here & say that this is the coolest Batman Toy of 2010, yeah! Thanks for spotting this Batmobilly. If any other Bat-Blog Readers come across any new interesting Batman items while Xmas shopping this year then please let us know.
Here are some cool new Bat-Products to keep an eye out for. A Japanese Toy Company called Medicom will release two BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES BEARBRICK Figures. One will be 400% scale ( $99.99 ) and the other will be 1000% ( $399.99 ). We posted a photo here that gives you an idea of their size. The smallest figure in the picture, shown far right-hand side, is the size of the regular Bearbricks Figure. So, you can see how BIG they are. They have a release date of December, 2010, so look for them very soon.
You might remember reading about the brand-new SQUATZ toys here at the Bat-Blog about 2 weeks ago. We had some prototype pics of the packaging & mentioned them. Well, I have now seen the actual product, in my hands, & they're extremely cool! What I'm talking about is the new line of DC UNIVERSE / SQUATZ FIGURES made by Wild Planet. They are compact collectible figures of our favorite DC Comics characters embedded in dissolving tablets. They are sold 2 figures per pack. One figure is visible & the other is hidden. The list of Core Characters ( visible ) include: Batman, The Joker, The Penguin, Green Lantern, Superman, & The Flash. The list of Bonus Characters ( hidden ) include: Aquaman, Robin, Lex Luthor, Gorilla Grodd, Green Arrow, Hawkman, & Wonder Woman. Overall there are 13 different ones to collect. Each package will have a retail price of around $9.99 & you can find them at the end of this year, during the holiday season. In fact, I think they would make very excellent stocking stuffers. So, remember to keep an eye out for these later! Now, for the Toy & Action Figure Collectors out there, who will probably be collecting all of these, I have created this special SQUATZ - DC UNIVERSE Checklist! OK, actually it's a Desktop Wallpaper you can use as a background on your PC ( you could also print it out ). It shows the complete 1st wave of 13 figures. One last thing, If you wanna check out the official WILD PLANET website, just CLICK HERE!
Here are some photos for the retail packaging ( prototype ) to some brand-new Batman toys to keep an eye out for in the future. These are SQUATZ Figures of popular DC Universe characters. There will be 6 to collect in the 1st wave: Batman, Joker, Penguin, Green Lantern, Flash, & Superman. Because of space limitations I'm just showing the Batman-related ones. Now, in each package you get 2 figures & one of them is totally unknown, a mystery! The way you find out who it is you put the figure in water & allow the special coating to dissolve. Then, you know who the mystery figure is, woo hoo! Sounds like hours of fun!! Actually, I'm really loving the retro-style characters presented on these cards. The figures look sort of cool too. I can't wait to see these in stores. You know, to see what they actually look like. Stay tuned to the Bat-Blog & when we find out, you will too.
Anyone who has been reading the Bat-Blog for any length of time knows I am totally goo-goo over Funko Toys, ha ha, so check these out! Here's some wonderful photos of the brand-new FUNKO FORCE Mini-Action Figures ( with Bobble Head action! ) that will be coming out! At first I was just gonna show the BATMAN & JOKER ones, because this blog is mainly about "collecting Batman stuff", but the others were so cool I decided to add them too, ha ha! The extras include: SUPERMAN, GREEN LANTERN, & AQUAMAN. Oh man, I am totally loving these cool new toys & the JOKER one has got to be my personal favorite, ha! I also like that they all sort of have a retro-look about them, like they're from the 1980's. For information on other Funko products featured at the Bat-Blog just click HERE!
